Uno (/ ˈ uː n oʊ /; from Italian and Spanish for 'one'; stylized as UNO) is an American shedding-type card game that is played with a specially printed deck.The game's general principles put it into the Crazy Eights family of card games, and it is similar to the traditional European game Mau-Mau. It has been a Mattel brand since 1992. Hand out an equal number of cards to each player. Divide 52 by the number of players to find out how many cards each person gets. Here is a quick chart for reference for up to 10 players; 2 players: 26 each; 3 players: 17 each, 1 extra; 4 players: 13 each; 5 players: 10 each, 2 extra; 6 players: 8 each, 4 extra; 7 players: 7 each, 3 extra.

Uno just confirmed their official rules on Twitter and it turns out that we've all been playing it wrong this whole time.

It's no secret that Uno is a huge part of many of our lives. Ever since the hit card game came out in 1971, it's been incredibly popular. In fact, Uno is so beloved that it's become a family staple alongside games like Monopoly and Scrabble. No matter if you're a child, a teenager or an adult, Uno slaps. However, like any game, Uno rules vary from house to house and now Uno has sparked huge controversy by revealing what the actual rules are. Even Shane Dawson is shook.

Which official Uno rules are people getting wrong?

Taking to Twitter this week, Uno tweeted: '🗣You 🗣DO NOT🗣 need to pull a card until you have a color that matches the discard pile. 🗣' alongside an image that says: 'If you don't have a card to play, you only have to pick up ONE card'. Okay so, in other words, when you can't play, you only pick up one card and then, if you still can't play, the next person goes. If you can't play on your next turn, you still only pick up one card. YES. This is official.

Wild right? The tweet was so divisive that it quickly amassed more than 28,000 replies of people arguing about it. That's not all though. A player tweeted back: 'Next you'll be telling em you can't stack +2 and +4 cards to make the 6th person along pick up 22 cards' and Uno replied: 'You can't stack cards!' So if the person before you plays a +2 or a +4 you must pick what the card says up even if you have a +2 or +4. No stacks or chains allowed.

Okay. I'm ready to fight. This rule is trash. The first rule is trash. Home rules for the win. Thankfully, we are not the only ones who are distressed and upset by Uno's recent revelations. Comments surrounding the tweets range from 'my entire life is a lie' to 'how dare you?'. People are also pretty sure that Uno on mobile and games consoles says otherwise. YouTube star Shane Dawson went for the classic 'WHAT?!!'

If a white screen pops up when you are opening a game invite, then you need to restart your iPhone or update your iOS version. To do this follow the steps below:

To restart your iPhone, simply press and hold the Sleep/Wake and the Volume Down button concurrently. Wait for about 10 seconds for the iPhone’s screen to turn off. Once it is off, hold those buttons again to turn it on. Have the game invite resent again and check whether it works.

To update to the latest version of iOS, connect your iPhone to a power source and make sure it is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi too. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. Select the update and tap Download and Install. Once the new version is installed, reinstall GamePigeon on your iMessage. Remember that this game only works on iOS 7 and above.

What to do when Game pigeon doesn’t install

If GamePigeon doesn’t install on your iPhone, then you need to restart your device. Once you restart, simply visit the iMessage app store and download the app again. If it doesn’t install after a restart, then you should update to the latest version of iOS. Follow this guide if you cannot download GamePigeon.

I downloaded the app but can’t play games

If you have downloaded Game Pigeon and you can’t access or play games, simply follow these steps. Open any message thread on iMessage and at the bottom left, tap the 4 dots. Once you do this, you should see the game. Select your game of choice and an invite will be sent to your friend.

Another common error is when Game Pigeon doesn’t show on iMessage. To fix this, simply open iMessage, tap the 4 dots, hold the GamePigeon icon until it jiggles and then tap the x that appears to remove it. Once you have removed it, you can re-install the app again.

How to start a game on GamePigeon

Top play games on GamePigeon you have to install the app on your iMessage first. Simply follow the steps outlined below to install this app and play games right from it.

  • Open any message thread on iMessage
  • Tap the AppStore icon on the iMessage app drawer at the bottom
  • Tap on the 4 dots on the bottom left of the screen
  • Tap Store and search for GamePigeon
  • Select the game and tap install
  • Once installed, Open a message thread
  • Tap the AppStore icon at the bottom
  • Choose your preferred game and tap Start

You will get a notification when the recipient joins the game. Ensure that your iPhone is operating on iOS 7.1.2 and above for the game to work. If you cannot see the app on your iMessage App Store, this is an indication that your device doesn’t support the game.

Follow these steps to delete GamePigeon from the old iOS versions:

  • Tap the AppStore icon at the bottom of the screen

  • Tap x and it will be deleted
